Sari El Khazen
Prominently known for his ingenious architecture, it was only a matter of time before he divulged his artistic talents to the world. His paintings full of distressed subjects, almost nightmares, with that fantastic aura typical of the dream. Sari’s paintings seem to come in the dark of sleep. Originating from the depth of the conscience; bringing to the surface some fragments of society, dilemmas, those of which are submerged and forgotten in the abyss of the psyche. All in all, he doesn’t propose these distressing subjects simply in order to disturb the observer, and neither for an apotropaic purpose; on the contrary, because they are the human anguishes that the dualist society tries to bury under a blanket of hipocrisy and false-goodness.
All the while acting like an auto- psychoanalyst: casting himself inside the mind to find the pearl. Or the complex and handing it to the patient so that it could understand and sublime what it buried for fear… A self-taught artist… realizing his artworks on canvas, with the use of acrylic, ink, and oil colours, his style is one that is not easily classifiable… From deep underlying meanings of his work that boast of profound elements of Expressionism, to the vertiginous dynamism in his work that is illustrated by his inherent love of street art… Sari is an artist that has managed to pick and place the right amount of artistic styles into his own world and category of emotional expression.
